Between the monthly meetings, Marston Magna members’ diaries can be very busy.
Scrabble. An informal get-together in members’ homes every month. There is room for more Scrabble players – talk to Lyn Pemberton
Cinema Outings. Sometimes we visit the local cinema in Yeovil but more often we support the film showings in nearby West Camel. Their seats are comfortable and the film is always geared to popular choice – talk to Jenny Dench
Book Club. A book is selected and read by members with a view to discussion. The choice of book ranges from well known classics to romantic novels and everything in between! The October selection is: The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Contact Elizabeth Crouch for details.
Walks. We are currently part way through the linear 28 mile Liberty Trail which stretches from Ham Hill to Lyme Regis. We are fair weather walkers and are taking a winter rest before picking up the trail again when Spring arrives – more details from Jenny Dench
Outings. We arrange small scale outings which can be undertaken in cars. This year we have visited “Hardy Country” including his birthplace and the resting place of his heart; We enjoyed a fascinating visit to West Coker Rope Works and we are anticipating a November outing to explore Poundbury, the community created by Prince Charles as part of Dorchester.
WI Lunch. We meet up for lunch once a month in nearby pubs. We originally met in the village pub but it has changed hands several times over the last couple of years so we have taken to choosing a different venue every time. So far we have not repeated ourselves!
