LOCATION AND ADDRESS OF THE VILLAGE HALL
The Village of Marston Magna lies between Mudford and Queen Camel, and Marston Magna Village Hall is situated in the southern edge of Marston Magna by the side of the A359 which is the main road through the Village and is next to the Playing Field. The address of the Village Hall is Yeovil Road, Marston Magna, Yeovil, Somerset BA22 8BY.
The Hall was built in 1994 and was officially opened later that year. The management of the Hall is administered by Marston Magna Village Hall Management Committee and is a registered Charity. The Committee consists of members either elected or co-opted onto the Committee, who then annually elect the officers of the Committee. A list of the officers of the Committee, valid until the next Annual General Meeting in January 2017, is at Section 1 below. The Committee also appoints a caretaker who is responsible for the day to day running of the Hall.
AREAS WITHIN MARSTON MAGNA VILLAGE HALL
The Village Hall itself consists of a large Main Hall, a Committee Room, a fitted kitchen, a cloakroom and toilets including a separate disabled toilet. Photographs of the areas of the Hall are at Section 2. All areas of the Hall are centrally heated by an Oil fired heating system. The Hall holds the relevant Performing Rights Society Licences as well as an Entertainment licence to play live or recorded music. The Hall also has an Alcohol Licence, which is controlled by the Licence Supervisor, who is also currently the Vice Chairman of the Hall. There are approximately 30 car parking spaces in front of the Hall.
The Hall is well maintained and undergoes a rolling programme of maintenance and refurbishment, the most recent of which was the improvement and replacement of the lighting in the Hall, replacement of the Entrance Hall carpet and decoration of the Main Hall.
The maximum numbers of persons to be allowed on the premises at any time during a hiring or performance are:
- When used for a closely seated audience 300 persons
- When used for dancing 300 persons
- When seating is provided at tables 125 persons
- When used for dancing and seating is also provided at tables 160 persons
The Hall has adequate tables and chairs to support the maximum numbers of people allowed under its’ licence for sections b, c and d and this is included in the Hire charge. However, should seating be required for in excess of 200 persons under section a, then the Management Committee reserve the right to agree a separate scale of charges.
RATES FOR HIRING THE HALL
The Village Hall is the base for many local clubs and societies and is available for private functions and parties. The Committee Room, which holds 12 to 15 people and is ideal for small meetings, can be booked separately from the Main Hall. A list of applicable rates, which are valid until 1st January 2017, is below. All Bookings and enquiries about availability of the Hall should be made through the Bookings Secretary, whose details appear at the bottom of the List of rates for hiring the Hall.
PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
The Village Hall Management Committee also organise regular fund raising events, all profits from which go toward the running costs of the Hall and to pay for improvements to, and maintenance of, the Hall.
